I see you are a member
of the PPANI - what does that mean for me?
The PPANI is the Professional Photographers
Association for Northern Ireland. The association
demands that all its members are fully insured having
both public liability and professional indemnity
insurance. What this means for you is peace of mind -
only photographers who are full-time professionals and
have achieved a high level of professionalism are
allowed to join.
Through that membership I have access to
continuing education, the ability to network with other
professionals and the opportunity to stay abreast of the
latest advances in technology and technique.
What happens if you are
ill on the day of our wedding?
In the unlikely event of illness precluding me from
photographing your wedding, every effort will be made to
find you a replacement photographer from the membership
of the PPANI so you can be guaranteed that my
replacement shall be equally qualified.
Who
will be photographing my wedding?
I do not employ any other photographers. All
photography is undertaken exclusively by myself - and I
never do more than one wedding per day. You can be sure
that the samples you see are representative of what you
will get, unlike some large studios who show you the
work of a photographer who may not even be the person
doing your wedding.
How many photographs do you take?
It really depends on your chosen coverage. I will
take an unlimited amount of photographs in the time
allotted. In practise this can be anything from 200 for
the smaller packages up to 600+ for the larger packages.
Do we see all the photographs taken at our
wedding?
All photographs go through a careful editing process
to save you the hassle of wading through numerous
duplicate shots. Other photographs may be rejected on
the basis of unflattering expressions, blinks, etc.
Normally the amount of proofs you end up with would be
approximately 1/3 of the total taken.
What is the difference between a 'proof' and
a 'print'?
The difference between a proof and a print is similar
to the difference between listening to a band playing
their song live and hearing their studio recorded
version - its the same song but the recorded version
will be finessed and enhanced by post production
techniques, similarly a 'proof' is the raw un-retouched
version presented for convenience to aid selection and
does not represent the final quality of the hand
finished print.
What if we have to postpone our wedding?
Every effort will be made to book your new date
subject to availability and at no extra cost as long as
your new date is within twelve months of your original
date.
Why is the deposit non-refundable?
The deposit secures your date. In the event of a
cancellation your deposit will be retained as the
chances of re-booking your date would be slim. This is
fair compensation given the circumstances.
How long do you need for photographs?
The most intense period of photography is when you
arrive at the reception venue. It is advisable to leave
at least 2 hours between your arrival at the
reception/end of your ceremony and the time of your
line-up/meal - it doesn't mean that all that time
will be taken up by photography, but leaving yourself
plenty of time gives you ample opportunity to interact
with your guests who will be demanding your attention
and ensures you get the necessary 'chill out' time.
Do
you expect to be invited to the meal?
No-never. Should your chosen coverage require that I
stay beyond the time of your meal I will take a short
meal break at a separate part of the venue.
How long after the wedding until we see our
photographs?
Your proofs will be published to your online gallery
within a maximum of ten days from your wedding. You will
also receive a 'proof-book' on cd/dvd within two weeks
from your wedding.
I don't want my wedding photographs to be
seen on a publicly accessible gallery - can you prevent
this?
Yes, your gallery can be securely password protected
on request. Only those people that you supply the
password to will be able to view your wedding.
What happens if your camera breaks during
the wedding?
I use professional level cameras and as a matter of
course always have two cameras with me, so in the
unlikely event that one malfunctions I always have
another. I also carry backup batteries, flashes, lenses
etc.
How do I select the photographs for my
album?
There are two main ways of selecting your
photographs.
-
You can view your photographs on-line
from the comfort of your own home and in your own time.
Once you have chosen a photograph you would like in your
album, simply tick the corresponding image number on
your 'select for album' form that will be provided to
you, then simply post the completed form back to Paul
Irvine Photographic and your prints will be ordered and
album assembled ASAP.
-
You can view your photographs in a 'proof-book'
that will be sent to you on cd/dvd. This is a PDF
document that you can view on your computer screen
at higher resolution than the online gallery
permits. Then choose with the 'select for album'
form as above.
How do we book you for
our wedding?
Check if I am available for your date by clicking on
the 'inquiry' link at the top of this page, then
arrange an appointment. A non-refundable retainer fee of
£200 secures your date with the balance to be paid not
less than four weeks before your date.
Will you accept a booking without a
meeting?
I prefer to meet with you for an initial consultation
and get to know your specific needs before booking,
however I recognize that sometimes this is not practical
if for instance you are residing in
England/Scotland/Wales or the Republic of Ireland and
your getting married here. In such circumstances I will
accept a booking before meeting you. However I do
require a meeting usually four weeks before your date to
finalise all the details of your wedding.
What happens if you're unfamiliar with our
wedding venue?
In the unlikely event that I am unfamiliar with your
venue I will reconnoitre the venue at least a week
before your date at no charge.
Can we have black & white
or sepia toned photographs?
Yes, uniquely I post three versions of your
photographs on your online gallery: colour, black &
white and sepia toned versions. There is no extra cost
for choosing a non-colour version.
Do you accept provisional
bookings?
Unfortunately no. Booking is on a first come first
served basis. With multiple inquiries it becomes
problematic keeping track of who was interested in which
date, and also for the following reason: imagine the
scenario where you provisionally booked a date with me,
in the meantime another couple inquire about that date
and are ready to pay a deposit - it may not be possible
to contact you by the time the other couple require or
if I do manage to contact you and inform you that
someone else is interested in your provisionally booked
date, you may be forgiven for perceiving this as a hard
sales tactic - I don't do hard sales and don't want to
be perceived in that way. So book early and if you need
time to think about it - keep checking my availability.
Can we or are families and friends buy
extra prints?
Yes, you can purchase prints safely and securely via
'Paypal' from your online gallery and remember,
you don't even need to have a 'Paypal' account!
Can we add extra photographs to our album?
Yes, providing you order the extra pages before
finalising your selection for your album.
How do we pay you?
As with other
wedding vendors I require the full balance to be paid at
least four weeks before your wedding date by cheque or
cash or securely via Paypal. It is also at this time we would have a meeting to
finalise your requirements.
